About Alani Nu
Alani Nu makes energy drinks, protein powder, and fit snacks built around a simple premise the category ignored for years: women wanted their own lane, not a pink relabel of what already existed. Katy Hearn Schneider and her husband Haydn Schneider launched the brand in 2018, and it's since become one of the fastest-growing names in functional beverage.
The positioning was never subtle. Where Monster and Bang leaned into black cans and extreme-sports branding, Alani Nu went bright, playful, and social-media-native, with flavors like Cosmic Stardust, Breezeberry, and Mimosa built for the feed as much as the fridge. It worked. The brand became a fixture at Target, Walmart, GNC, and The Vitamin Shoppe, and its energy drinks in particular turned into a Circana pacesetter, crossing $1 billion in trailing retail sales by early 2025.
What separates Alani Nu from a lifestyle-brand-with-a-can isn't just the packaging. The formulas lean zero-sugar and low-calorie, built with vitamins and a "clean energy" pitch aimed at consumers who wanted functional benefits without the aggressive stimulant load or gas-station energy drink baggage. That same philosophy carries into the supplement side, where products like the brand's Balance line target hormone support, a category most energy and supplement brands weren't touching with any credibility.
Celsius Holdings acquired Alani Nu in 2025 in a deal worth roughly $1.8 billion, and the results since have been hard to argue with. Retail sales are up over 100% year over year under Celsius ownership, distribution has expanded fast through the PepsiCo system, and the brand now accounts for a meaningful chunk of Celsius Holdings' total dollar share in the energy category. Few acquisitions in this space have paid off this quickly or this visibly.
Alani Nu is for the consumer energy drinks spent a decade ignoring: women who want function over aggression and don't want to drink something that looks like it belongs in a monster truck's cupholder. It's not a niche play anymore. It's one of the category's biggest growth stories, full stop.
